If I cross an Araucana rooster with a Barred Rock hen, I should be able to sex the chicks when they hatch ? Shouldn't I ?

What color will the roosters be when they feather out ? And the hens, what color will they be when they feather out ?

Oh, that's great to know. So I take it barred hen to any roo produces the same? What if it is barred roo to non-barred hen?

I was hoping to get more feedback on this thread, it's a great question. What do you have for a Cuckoo Marans hen (?barred?) to a solid black Roo, Jersey Giant? The genetics thing can be so confusing. Anyone?

Lotza hens, I am going to guess you will get the same thing I have gotten.......

Lots of little boy chickens that are the color of their mom.....

And lots of little girl chickens that look like their papa .....

The rooster needs to be a sex link, think the black sex links.
are.
RIR or NH rooster X barred rock hen= black sex link (barred rooster chicks)

Not sure of all the sex link color in chickens.

Sex link color males X non sex link females = females sex link color, and male non sex link color/split sex link color.

Male non sex link color X females sex link color = all chicks looking like non sex link color, only male will be split to the sex link color.
