I'm pretty sure this is a rooster after several weeks of denial, but I'd like your opinions. I don't see any saddle feathers yet but...

I ordered a handful of hatchlings and received them in mid May, so they're around 3 months old now. The white-ish one is supposed to be a Golden Buff Sex Linked breed, but it doesn't look anything like a hen of that type. My other breeds are Buff orpington, australorp and ex leghorn, so I know I can't be confusing the breeds! It looks a lot like the rooster!!! It crowed at me today so the evidence is piling up. I guess I'm just super surprised they sent me what looked like a female (large orange stripe on the back with yellow everywhere else) and I got a male? Bummer. I got them from mypetchicken, fyi.

Is this a rooster? Has this happened to anyone else before?!

:welcome

Yup that's a cockerel.

I only have 2 black sex links so not sure how common it is to have happen.

I would give them a call....not sure if there is any guarantee with it being a sex link.

Photo looks like a cockerel.

I have golden sex links pullets which are about three months old. We had a surprise Cockerel among the eight chick we bought in May and he has not crowed yet. He must be taking his time.

Yep! That's a Roo!
And from the looks of him, it won't be long till his huevos drop, then he be running around doing all kinds of Rooster Things, like the 3 Fs, Foraging, Fightin and Fornicating. Oh, you can't forget, He'll also be Crowing!
Yep! He's just a rooster, and he'll just be doing rooster things! :gig
