Sex- linked Information

Awesome keep us posted on the chicks your unsure of. New question is black ameraucana roo will give you both black and blue sex links at the same time?

I switched to use one of my blue roos (also busy making blue and splash pure Ameraucanas) with a few Cali Grey hens as a test. I didn't like the results, so they are back with the Black roo now and no more blue sexlinks.

What didn't you like about the blue sex links?
To me, the whole point of a "sex link" is to be able to sex the chicks at hatch (or at least very young). Since the blue dilutes the color to the point that you can't see the head spot or feather barring, they are not readily sexable. I wanted a blue pullet that lays blue eggs and can be sexed at hatch, since I can't sex them there is no advantage of a blue sexlink over a blue Ameraucana, which I have lots of (and pure Ams are prettier/more salable than the hybrids, though the hybrids might lay better).
