Thats right... Sex links right there...Is it true that you can have a sex-link off of black skin?
Meaning If my rooster is a silkie (black skin) and I hatch out an EE with yellow skin then the pullets would all be black skin?

I'm still confused on some points.
Yes the dellies have silver--and can be used to make red sexlinked chicks.
I spent the past hour reading the first post by takenson. For the black sexlinks using barred hens, Dellies are not in the female listing for barred hens ( and not in the male side either).
I know Tim doesn't have EVERYTHING listed . . . . . I can't get my head around this.
I'm happy anyway. I did figure out I can use barring in the hens to sort male and female chicks IF the chick down is dark enough to reveal the head spot. Down of black or dark brown works. Just need to figure out which e produces the dark chick down.
My next task is to understand when the spot is white versus when it is yellowy. So far I know that bo rooster on black barred hen results in a black backed chick with pale yellow under the chin area. WHy wouldn't this type of chick also have a white, or yellowy head spot for the males?
even on blue or lavender birds you are able to spot the headspotI'm getting it!!
and t hanks for the illustrations---
only on black chick down, seems like these breeds(autosexing breeds based on sex linked barring and on other "E" allele background like eb/e+) lack this trait on crele, cream legbars and rhodebars, which are based on wildtype and eb brown for isbars...but females are darker and boys are lighter and with the headspotDo the girls EVER have head spots?? EVen a tiny one?
Quote: Can you clarify--I"m understanding this to mean, yes the girls can have a tiny spot only on the black down male chicks and last sentence refers to the black down again or the wildtype and eb?
Or does the last sentence refer to the black: females are darker and males lighter with head spot.?
Devil is in the details. LOL
let me clarify this, barred females can ONLY have the headspot on black chick down(Extended black/Birchen) on any other "e" allele background like(eb brown or Wildtype duckwing) the girls will lack the headspot....Can you clarify--I"m understanding this to mean, yes the girls can have a tiny spot only on the black down male chicks and last sentence refers to the black down again or the wildtype and eb?
