The first post in this thread is the important one. It explains how sex links work and has some good charts that tell you some of the breeds you can use to make sex links. If you check the black sex link chart in that first post, you'll see a Rhode Island Red rooster on the left and a Barred Rock hen on the right. That means that combination can be used to make a black sex link.

Yes, the males will have a white spot on their heads and the females will not.

So i need a barred female and a non barred male to make a sex link, correct? If not tell me. BUt if thats true are RIR barred?

Most use either a RIR or NHR male and depending on what kind of Sex-Link you want to have which also depends of what females you breed with the males. If you mate a Delaware male with a New Hampshire or Rhode Island Red female, all the offspring will have the same Delaware feather pattern.
