Sex- linked Information

Just put a SLW, BR, and Silver Penciled Rock into segregation to breed with my Speckled Sussex roo once they're "dried out" from being with my mixed breed boys. Should produce some interesting sex linked offspring, I'll post pics here when they hatch.

Yes, you'll get Silver offspring... some will have black Delaware type markings others may not, and they'll all probably have some red leakage.
Sounds right. Just to add, the cockerels will be silver also, you will not be able to sex the chicks by down color (if that was what you were going for).

The hen is columbian patterned, the black feathering is only on the neck and tail. Dominant white crosses have random 'flecks' of black. The hen has the right genes for producing red sexlinks. It's the rooster that is the problem. He is likely the same color genetically as a 'Black Copper' or 'Brown Red'. That basically means he's red/gold base color, but birchen patterning. The birchen pattern produces black chicks. You won't be able to sex the black chick until it starts to feather in. The yellow chick is probably male.

Turns out the Blacks are male and the yellow have turned white except for one that is turning red possibly another father before I isolated the pair for breeding The combs in the blacks are growing fast

A fast growing comb does not always indicate a male. It's the comb turning red before 10 weeks, that indicates male.

no i wasnt looking for sex linked chicks, i was looking to use some sex links i already have and a del roo i already have to make mothers for more sex links!

What rooster will you be using? Are you going for black sex links or red sex links? The Delaware has both silver and barring so both options are open to you. The pullets from that cross (Delaware rooster over a red sex link) will have both of those sex linked genes.

One requirement for sex linked chicks is that you have to be able to see the difference in the red/yellow down for red sex links or the spot for black sex links. Since the hen will be a mix you could possibly get different down patterns on the chicks when you try to make the sex links so there could be some challenges, but either could easily work.
