I crossed my Blue Splash Marans Rooster over Cream Legbar hens expecting Sex-Linked chicks. They all seem to look the same. Only one seems to have a tiny little yellow head spot. But so hard to tell. I thought the head spots on the male offspring would be much more apparent. Is there any reason my chicks would have ended up not sex-linked???

These are the 3 I have pulled out of the brooder at the moment. They all have blue coloring with some hidden yellow on the neck. The 3rd chick has the tiny yellow marking on the top of its head, as well as more apparent yellow on its neck than the other two.

Any updates on what they look like now? I recently hatched a similar sex link and finding the head dot on the blues is pretty difficult (or hopefully all hens 😅)

@BChick96 i sold a lot of them, and just told my customers they were now straight run. I kept three to grow out and see. One chick had a very clear head spot, at about a week old I could see barring. Another chick I suspected to be male because he had a very yellow neck did in fact turn out to be male. I kept one female. I also noticed she has a darker beak and legs than the males. The males are more yellow. I feel like I some what know what I am looking for now, but can’t be 100% sure.

I‘m curious as to how this turned out for you... I’m having the same issue with my Wheaten Marans x Cream Legbar cross. Any updates?
