Sex-links good choice

what I understand about the commerical sex links. They take one season to develope the parents, which are selected for high egg production, then they cross the two breeds to get the sex links birds.
Your sexlinks will be as good layers as their parents eggs laying ability.
I mean if you choose high egg laying birds and mate the two the sexlinks will be good egg layers but if the parent stock is not a high egg producers the sexlinks wont be either.
of course you will still have sexlinked birds and maybe with the luck of the draw they would be high egg layers.

Try the Ideal 236... by far they are "overlaying" eggs compared to ALL of my sex links red, black, Brahmas,Barred Rock or anything in my pen. The others hens have nearly stopped laying all together after a few rain showers....

I would use White Rock hens for the reds, if I was keeping the cockerels for broilers.

In my little hatchery operation for the blacks I will be using RIR roosters over Barred Rock hens and the reds will be RIR roosters over RIW hens. I won't be keeping the cockerel chicks. I'm only going to breed sexlinks for the spring rush. The rest of the year my pens will be breeding purebreds and all my purebreds sell straight run. Basically, I'm losing two months to transition eggs for adapting to the different customer types (backyard layers/chicken fanciers).

PLEASE do not bump your own posts, especially 12 minutes after the original, as you did here. This is against BYC rules, and when you bump, you have just moved someone else's post down, giving the impression that you think your question is more important than anyone else's. It's not.
While any of us who post are anxious for a reply, you have to just wait for responses. Sorry for the rant, but I am really weary of the "Anyone?" posts within minutes of the original.

Now, to your question. I think you have a good idea --- being able to assure people they have a hen will be a selling point, and the sex-links are known to be hardy and good layers, Good luck with your project.
