I think the reds lay better too...but if the blacks I have get any friendier..I'm going to have to switch them to dog food!

The blacks have by far been more docile!

We've got one black, Gwen, & she's a sweetie. Started laying on Thanksgiving Day and has laid 8 eggs so far: all 45-46g or 1.5 oz. She's very friendly, unless you're a cricket - see my threat about the cricket massacre under the feeding section.

She coos as us, squats for us, lays consistently, is always the first one to greet us, and is a great bird. In the sunlight her black feathers look green. She's so pretty!
