Hello, We have a 6 week and 4 day old, I think "Peacock". I was just wondering if anyone could confirm the sex.
He has just gotten his first blue feather today.

Maybe a little history...
On June 24th, we found this egg in a Peacock shelter at an Amish Farm. We asked if we could have it with the hopes of hatching it. To our surprise, they gave us the egg. I came home and built a homemade incubator, and the process began. On July 24th, our little chick was hatched. He has been growing well and is very friendly. We will be transferring him to a large aviary built from a wire corn crib when he is old enough. We believe he is a male, but just want to confirm, if anyone could help.
Thanks

Hello and

!
Nice to have you and your little guy here!

I'm going to guess your fellow is indeed a fellow,

based on his wing barring.
Here are some tips that might be of use:

Also, a whole lotta chick pictures for comparison: http://peafowlimagedatabase.weebly.com/peachick-chart.html

Peas are very social and your guy is likely to be lonely without a friend!
You might check to see if they have more chicks on the farm where you found him...

Handsome young male.

Just as New 2 said peafowl are social birds and want friends. When they are alone they tend to be noisier.
To tell the difference between male and female here's a picture of my peachicks when they were three weeks old. Female is in back and the male is up front.

This is one of the male peachicks Blue when he was 10 weeks old. I hatched out Blue and he imprinted on me and is really friendly just something to look forward to.

Thank you so very much for your advice. We will need to begin looking either for another egg or for maybe a Peahen to give him company.
