ok so i have 12 amazing layers one a day from each...i have 2 coups and runs one is double the size of the other...im picking up a rooster this week hoping for more chicks...
question time...what comes first do i have to wait for a hen to go broody or do they go broody when with a rooster none of my hens have gone broody yet so this is why i am a little concerned if i have a chance at natural hatching...another question is should i let the rooster free with the 12 layers or select one to put in the smaller coup with the rooster and set them up???? what is the best method??

What breed are they? Laying hens like production reds or black/red sexlinks almost never go broody since it was bred out of them. Some other breeds that are layers and most likely wont go broody are RIRs and Marans. and it would be better off with all of the hens with one roo. One hen would get over mated

Quaratine first! for a month to make sure you dont bring any illness into your flock. Then I would put him in with all. No guarantee that any will go broody. Depends on what chickens you have.

ahh thats bad news then haha... i have isa browns..white leghorns and rhode island reds. so is there any chance?

aww gee wasnt the quick fix to more little chicks then hey...il quarantine him and chuk him in with the rest see what happens......and if i do get a broody shall i move her to the smaller coup on her own?
