I read an article about mandarin ducks changing sex, is it possible for mallard type duck's to change sex ?
I have some mallards but I don't think thoroughbreds, smaller than standard, they had beautiful green/blue heads which have turned brown, silver plumage which is turning brown too. Today a a large drake someone identified as could be a swedish blue was on the back of one mating with it !!!
How bizarre is this.

Well, I have a feeling they aren't completely full-bloods. But yes, the second picture, I have had male Mallards and Rouens turn to almost completely female coloration before.

Yes that's what I read.

I also looked that breed up on Wiki and they said nothing about that so I kept searching out of curiosity ! Very Beautiful breed of fowl.
