Sexing 7 Week old RIR

Ok I am going to explain the story so 6 months ago I bought "egg layers" at TSC well once I started free-feeding them the "egg layer" they gained 4 lbs in less than a week and I have a friend who raises meat chickens and she said those look like meat chickens and since I bought a straight run I got 3 roos and 1 pullet and I gave the rooster away and kept the hen but she didn't lay until the day that I gave her away and I didn't find the egg until today and when I had the hen I got some chicks but she would bully the chicks and I only raised meat chickens so I thought I had to limit food but once I got the chicks I made a thread and they all told me that the chicks need to be free feed and the chicks are free to feed but the hen would bully them and woulnt let them eat so I had to take the food away and feed the chicks 3 times a day from 4-weeks old to 7 weeks old but know they are finally able to free feed becuase i dont have the hen any more

I am sure they will be just fine

I think that when you picked out 'egg layers' there are meant to be white leghorns in the bin, and you got cornish crosses. Not your fault, TSC's fault. Because cornish crosses are meant to get big, they really do eat a lot. You were right to limit food for them. Now that you don't have any, you can continue to free feed the chicks. In the future, I would recommend raising chicks in a separate brooder either outdoors or indoors, so that everyone can get their proper feed. This especially goes for if you have hens or chicks with special eating or diet requirements. I am sure that your chicks will be fine, but it's good to know for the future

about the cornish crosses you are also right because i made thread and someone said that i have cornish crosses they all said i had cornish crosses

As cornish cross and white leghorn chicks look the same, TSC employees will often mix them up and put them in the wrong bins. In the future if you're looking for specific breeds I would use a hatchery where you order online. Meyer hatchery and MyPetChicken both have very low minimums of chicks that you can order depending on how close you are to them. Hatcheries are much less likely to mix up chicks, and definitely aren't going to be mixing up the straight run chicks and the sexed ones.
