Most of the time when sexing birds that aren't solid coloring like black, white, or buff, the feather pattern is a huge clue. Usually in pullets, the color ties in with the ones next to it. The most similar idea I can think of is the "blur" effect in Photoshop. Anything that doesn't really fit in, especially on wings, back, and shoulders, usually means male!Ah, ok! I'm slowwwwwwwly learning to sex birds. I know that usually rust/reddish color on the wings is a male trait in most breeds, in EEs it's on the shoulders too? Good to know. Looking closer at the picture I can see some pointy hackle/saddle feathers.... guess I didn't look close enough the first time!
