Sexing a Rooster

I have a small flock of 9 barred rock hens and I wanted to get a rooster for them! My boyfriends mom found one for me and I just picked it up yesterday. I’m not quite sure this is a roo but more likely a pullet! I also don’t know his age The lady didn’t tell us how old it is. If anyone could help it would be greatest appreciated! I also have a side by side picture of one of my mature hens to the young chicken

Yes, that's a cockerel.

How do you know? Because I’m not positive what exactly the differences are between them? Just wondering for future reference

He's lighter colored than a pullet due to "double barring." (He's essentially twice as white as a pullet.) His comb and wattles are very large and red for as young as he is and his legs are much thicker than a pullet's would be. FWIW, he appears to be 3-4 months old to me.
