Sexing Americaunas (I was told I had all girls)

Guess it would be time to pull out a camera, lol
Mine doesnt have green legs, they're a golden yellow.
I suppose they all lay green eggs? Aracuna, Ameracuna, and EE's?
All very confusing...

EEs lay any color of egg, as they're crossbred. Ameraucanas lay blue-green to blue eggs, and Araucanas should lay true, sky blue eggs.

Golden Yellow legs means you have Easter Eggers.

There are a lot of people who just go on buying Easter Eggers, think they're "Americanas" and claim themselves breeders by doing this and selling them under false claim just as a hatchery does. If you or your "breeder" ends up spelling Ameraucana wrong, chances are you have Easter Eggers.

Thanks for the info, I don't think it helped much. Phonetically dont the 2 sound the same?
I think that the Americana (yes with the I which makes it an EE) is like a Louis Vuitton knock off.
When you ask a clerk at a feed store what kind of chicks they are, and they tell you Americana or Ameraucana, how the hell are you supposed to know the difference? I feel kinda robbed.
When you buy a cheap knock-off the price reflects that its a cheap knock off, but who am I kidding they're still adorable. =-)

But seriously i will educate people on the name confusion, especially customers at TSC.

I might get banned.

I always educate feedstore people about their "Ameraucana chicks" - The way to tell is that NO feedstore sells real Ameraucanas unless they have definite evidence (for example, I supply my local store with Ameraucana chicks. . . And I know the difference.

The nice thing is that when I told the lady running the chick bins about the "Ameraucanas" she sold, she said she kinda figured there was something "off" about them, as her customers said they always laid green or brown eggs, and she read somewhere they should be blue. So, I confirmed that and told her about hatcheries and the whole Easter Egger thing. Then, I offered her my own Ameraucana stock as well as some true Araucana stock.

Thats pretty cool, we didnt get these guys at TSC but a small mom and pop type feed store, they dont get in a lot of chicks at a time, but they do have them shipped. They usually sell out the day after they come in. My mom also said she paid more to have them sexed and get all girls, now that smelled fishy to me.

Most chickens can be vent sexed but they would be ordered from the hatchery that way as there are only a few dozen people in the states that are very good at it. The hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy with their choice of refunding your money or sending you replacement day old chicks (neither of which works well when you have $10 of food in a two month old hen that is visited by the sex change fairy). I have been learning vent sexing and to me I don't think that anybody can do EEs to 90%. I have EEs from two different hatcheries as well as true Ameraucana hens being bred by an Araucana roo. I would say that about 80% of the resulting chicks have some sort of bump. I have also heard that the big hatcheries are missing the 90% mark quite often on their EEs. So here I am, starting a new, little hatchery, trying to be honest about what I sell and people would still rather have their "sexed Americanas" than my straight run EEs. Unlike the big hatcheries, I am very particular on egg color, so I offer blue egg layers or olive green egg laying EEs. The big hatcheries just say bluish tint eggs or blue/green eggs. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Yeah, they can absolutely guarantee the sex. But pricing is always highest on sexed pullets, a bit less for straight run and sexed cockerels are cheapest.
