Sexing baby bourbon reds

Can you feather sex turkeys like you can chicks?
I just had some hatch on sunday and wondered if I could see what I have or is it too early?

It's to early to feather sex. Once they get older the hens will have white lacing on the feathers and the toms will have black lacing.

Once they loose the fuzz and feather in. It shows first on the breast feathers. It's just a faint white lacing/line on the outer edge of the feathers on the hens at first. It will be more easy to see as they get older - If you have any adults you can really see it.


The best way is to vent sex them but you have to know what you are looking for.

Look on the breast area of this hen, see the white edging on the feathers? It stands out more on adults but it's in the poults as well.
