[/IMG][/IMG]Hey I am wondering if anyone can help me to sex my four 5 wk old chicks and tell me what breed they are. I was told they were RIR and white leghorn but I'm unconvinced. Here are some pics to help.

The two gold ones do look like Golden comets (aka Red Stars or Cinnamon Queens) if they are then they are hens, as golden comets are sex link birds and you can tell the difference of sex at hatch. Rhode island reds are a darker shinier red. the white does look like a leghorn and the comb is very small so I would say its a hen.

Thanks so much I had thought that the ginger ones were red sex links I was so worried that they were all going to turn out to be roosters because the tail feathers on the white ones are really long and pointy but I don't know the breed how can you tell for sure they are hens??

Leghorn hens normally have very long tail feathers that stand up and sometimes fan out (or at least mine do). I am assuming the leghorn is a pullet but you'll have to wait until its a little bit older.

One way you can tell hens flight feathers will be longer then roosters- this
This technique only works if you haven't cut their wing to prevent flying hope
This helps some!!:D

I have two golden comets that I bought in march of this year so they are about 3 months old now.
