Sexing Bantam Cochins

I think so:) I can tell pretty early on mine, these are a few thing I notice very young. First the most obvious is the comb, my little males get a pinkish comb with in month, where the females remains pale and small. They also feather out different, what I mean by feathering out different is the females will grow in more body feathers then the males, my little boys will have just a spout of wings and few sprouts of tail and foot feathers and a naked back. My females will have a lot more body feathers distributed more evenly then the males. I also notice chest bumping with the boys pretty early:) Those are just a few things I can tell on my cochin babies, maybe others have different experiences.

Take care,
Shari

This isn't the best example but you can see the little splash male in the back clealy has a comb and the "naked back" I discussed above. The little blue mottled female in front is the same age, she has a lot more body feathers then the male and her comb is pale and small.

I can always tell on my white bantam Cochins at a few weeks old. Those combs are always different sizes in genders. I have a few mottled bantams recently hatched and I can't wait to see who is what in a few weeks.
