Good Evening Folks,

You have been tremendously helpful in the past on sexing chicks. I bought 8 straight run blue/black orpington chicks that are looking like and acting like mainly roos. We will cull the roos but are super nervous of culling a fast developing pullet by accident (never owned this breed before). The person we bought from said you can't tell from the combs and wattles which contradicts what we "mastered" with other breeds. Soo... I'm not sure if it is accurate or not.

First three pics are "party shots" so you can see the general colour of the combs - pink/red.

Then...

Grey Chick #1 - roo

Black Chick #2- roo

Black Chick #3 - pullet - only one that is colourless and no wattles.

Black Chick #4 - roo

Black Chick #5 - not sure- big comb but not much colour... so yeah likely a roo

Black Chick #6 -roo

Black Chick #7 - not sure- the pink lil wattles make me nervous... so likely a roo

Black Chick #8 -roo while the wattle are pink (sun made them look brighter) this was about 2 weeks ahead of the others in terms of feathering which struck me as odd.

ANY guesses/guidance is great appreciated... even if I don't want to hear I have all roos hahah.

Thank you,
Erin

Unfortunately I think you guessed correctly. Have they started sparring yet? With all cockerels and one pullet, I’m surprised that they haven’t tried to fight for her. My Orpington roosters were trying to kill each other by 4 weeks 😓
