Which is what gender? The front duck (Puddlefoot) has an outright loud quack. Daffy, the other duck, has a quieter and raspier "half quack". Daffy leads Puddlefoot to the water and to food and always waits for Puddle to finish, as an example of behavior. Daffy is significantly heavier and bulkier, between 8-9 lbs. Daffy has a green sheen to the head and some feathers across the back, Puddle has a purple sheen.

Drakes have a raspy, quiet quack (if some argue they may quack at all).

Hens / Ducks have a loud quack.

Drakes are heavier than hens unless malnourished!

It would seem he is being a gentleman.

Also drakes generally have a more uniformly coloured head as opposed to hens, in domestic mallard descended breeds (notable exception being white coloured ducks (all one colour ducks really. Cayuga, Black East Indian etc.)).

Also - their curly tail feathers often give drakes away as well (though only show at older age and moulting can alter this).

Thanks!

He doesn't talk all the time but he does talk. I would say he outweighs Puddle by 2 lbs. They are both 15 weeks old, so no molt yet.
