Can someone please tell me how to sex peachicks by the barring on the back/shoulder/saddle feathers? My chicks are about 6 weeks old and I'm trying to get an idea of what they might be. They are Silver pied and don't have color on the flight feathers to use them as indicators, but have good feather coloring/barring in the middle of their backs.

I've tried searching the forums on this, but mainly find info on flight feather sexing.

Thanks for the help in advance,

At 3 months the female will lose the barring males will keep them,

Thanks Deerman! I thought that was right, but couldn't find anything that said exactly that. Wasn't sure about the age either. Guess I have another 6 weeks to wait.

Thanks again!

if you look at the new feathers , you can sex them about 2 months...but females will still have a few of the barring ,

I'll give it a few more weeks. Right now the barring looks pretty solid on both of them. I'll watch for any "fading out". I'd be happy with two males, but then again I'd be happy with anything... they are such an awesome bird.

Thanks again,
Walter
