Hi I am a first time chicken owner, I have 6 chicks an Easter Egger, Speckled Sussex, Buff Orpington, Gold laced Wyandotte, Silver laced Wyandotte and a Salmon Faverolle all will be 2 weeks on 6/23. I am wondering if the salmon Faverolle might be a cockerel or if the tend to feather slower then other breeds. All my chicks except and Faverolle are feathering like crazy wings shoulder and tail feathers, where the faverolle has only the wing feathers so far. I ordered all pullets and have until 10 to 7 week of age in notify the hatchery of an error. I took some pictures next to my speckled Sussex for comparison of feathering.

Welcome to BYC! You have a good mix of breeds in your flock. I especially like Buff Orpingtons because of their beautiful feathers and calm, gentle temperament and have a few of them in my flock for just those reasons. In answer to your question about Faverolles, they grow and mature more slowly than most other breeds. Good luck with your flock.

Welcome to BYC!

It is very possible he is a cockerel. Look at the tree trunks for legs he is growing!

You can post these pics in our What Gender section for more help with this...

Enjoy your cute chicks and welcome to our flock!

Looks like the Salmon faverolles is a boy - because of the dark markings on wings. As adults the breed has a distinctly different coloring of the males. I believe it starts with the wings.

Thank you, They are a lot of fun. My Orpington is so sweet and out going she jumps on my hand or arm every time I put it in there to do something. The others are starting to copy her now. I just love all of them so much.

Looks like a pullet so far to me. Body feathers will tell you for sure - black chest/leg feathers mean a cockerel. You can post updated pictures on the Faverolles thread in the General Breed forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/268082/faverolles-thread/15000
