Yeah, I noticed that.

They canceled the typing class my freshman year, so here I am. Terrible things happen when I type without looking.

TRIED BOURBON AND COCA COLA SEXING ONCE... IT WAS A DISASTER! WOKE UP AT 6:30 AM ANEMIC AS ALL GET OUT FROM 1100+ MOSQUITO BITES I RECEIVED, HAD SEVERAL QUAIL ZIP TIED TO INANIMATE OBJECTS... LIKE THE FLOOR AND THE WIRE ON THE ROOF AND 1 TO THE WIRE ON THE DOOR, ANOTHER TO THE FEED STRIP... AND A FULL GROWN COCHIN ROOSTER IN A NEIGHBORING PEN WITH HIS BEAK ZIP TIED SHUT (BOY WAS HE TICKED!

EVERYTIME HE TRIED TO CROW I THOUGHT HIS EYES WERE GONNA POP OUT!) ITS A WONDER I DIDNT GET MALARIA OR ENCEPHALITIS, THE WHOLE DAY WAS A WASTE OF TIME AND ZIP TIES... HAD TO START ALL OVER AGAIN ONCE MY HEAD STOPPED POUNDING AND I COULD MAKE A FIST AGAIN

SO NOW ANYTIME I EXPLAIN BEER SEXING I PUT A DISCLAIMER IN THERE THAT OTHER SUITABLE BEVERAGES MAY BE SUBSTITUTED BUT CAN POSSIBLY HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT ON SEXING ACCURACY.... FOR OBVIOUS REASONS

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ITS BEHAVIORAL OBSERVATION... SO THEY HAVE TO ADULTS IN BREEDING MODE

Yup. Most of my beer sexing has little to do alcohol. It's by observation alone. I may happen to have had a few at the time, but it's simple observation.

All the people that say they "Vent sex" are kidding, they find non color sexabale roos the same way I do. Simple observation.

"I vent sex all my birds" YEAH...RIGHT! No you don't, unless you just love poking around a birds vent...

Most of my 'non-feather sexing' birds have either been vent sexed once they reach breeding age or sexed by the width of the pelvis, also after breeding age

I don't have time to sit out there and wait for one to crow then try to catch the right one to put a zip tie on its leg.

When you are a small scale breeder vent sexing is very practical. Also if you are a large scale breeder that sells sexed birds in pairs vent sexing is a good thing to be good at for accuracy.

I swear my hen crowed! It crowed, so I put it in it's own cage and later, prest! an egg. Stupid bird.

Do the hens crow on occasion?

Nope!
That's why I say that the "Vent" sexing people are full of crap. They just don't do it.

You don't do it, I don't do it.. Why people pretend to do it is beyond Me!!!

I get an observational 98% sexed rate without even looking for a bump, or squeezing out foam.

Why do people lie about vent sexing?

So I'm lying?? You don't know me, I don't think you have the right to assume that you know anything about me.

I vent sex sometimes, it is not very accurate. When a rooster mates a hen there will be foam in the hen. The best way I have found is to beer sex and vent sex. I vent sex and put the alleged roosters in a separate pen if there is an egg by morning I am wrong on a few of them so I beer sex. If you only have a few birds and can separate all of them, vent sexing will work a lot better. For some reason I don't see this going well...

Apologies to the OP for all the squabbling.

I will try to get this cleaned up and reopened later.
