So today I got two crested cream legbars that were estimated at around 8 weeks. Sexed as pullets. But she said she hatches out so many each week that they get a little mixed up as they get older. One looks exactly as it should for a pullet. The other one is a little smaller and looks like it has barring to me. This is my first time with this breed so I am having trouble telling but I’m worried it’s a cockerel. It may not be perfectly purebred or something I’m not sure, I just hope it’s a pullet! What do you guys think?

Here’s the other one that is a little bigger and definitely looks like a CCL pullet to me.

They’re both pullets, just not the best examples of CL. All CL are barred, but males are black and white.

So that first one with more noticeable barring is still a pullet? Is she just younger and her coloring will look more like a CCL as she grows? I don’t think I’d be given a cockerel from an autosexing breed I’m just a little worried and not familiar with this breed. I know that the other one looks just like CCL when I google it. But the more prominent barring of the first one confused me!

you quote a person saying they are both pullet and asked if they thought one was a pullet:rolleyes:

yes both females. They are not “CCL” they are CL. Cream Legbars are crested.

I was just replying and asking for more clarification on the reasoning I guess. Just trying to learn more about the breed. And I’ve just always heard them called crested cream legbars and abbreviated CCL in another chicken group I’m part of. Again, still just trying to gain more info.

If you look at pictures you will see males are only black and white. Yours are both pullets. They are just not very good examples of the breed, that’s why they look like that.

Ok yeah, I guess to me that first one just looked very black and white and it threw me off. It’s just very different looking than the second one. Thank you for helping!
