Sexing Easter Egger Chicks

So I keep hearing about how people buy EE "female" chicks and come to find out that they got more than a few males in there. I am looking to only buy a couple of EEs and I want to make sure that I get females. Is this possible? Or is it a crap-shoot? Are EEs really that much harder to sex than other breeds?

Other than sex links and auto sexing breeds (which EE are not) you are best off buying 'sexed pullets' which have been vent sexed.. Even then there is a 10 % chance of receiving cockerels.

When you say "sexed pullets", is that the what they call the alternative to buying a "straight run" batch? or is there another term the stores use as well?

The store I am buying from sells female-only and straight-run batches, and I know not to buy the straight run if I want only females, but I am still worried that I will get males.

There is always the chance of getting male chicks when buying "sexed pullets", this site is full of people complaining about getting cockerels when they thought they were getting pullets. Sexing chicks is not a perfect science. Like chickity said, your chances are better with auto-sexing breeds and sex links.

Buying point of lay pullets or laying hens is a much better way to make sure you get pullets.
