I have 18 2 week old Easter Egger/BYM chicks. They are for sale but I would like to keep some if they are pullets. Is there any reliability to the 'wing test'. Although there is a variety of colours, 8 of them have distinctly longer wings already reaching their butts. Could they be females? I don't want to keep the wrong ones and end up with too many roosters.

I thought some pics might help explain. All the same age.

You can't use anything like the wing test or colouring for EE's as they are really just mixes and haven't been bred for things like that. I found for my EE's eventually there was just a difference between the roos and hens. The ones that got bigger combs starting at two weeks were almost all roos. It was all about comb size for my EE's.
