sexing easter eggers/americaunas

It's a bit tricky at times. Some become obvious at about four weeks old and some make you wait till two or three months to figure them out. With pea combed birds, a wide comb with all three rows of 'peas' showing early on indicates a male (girls get their wider combs much later than males), which is then confirmed around two and half to three months old when the saddle feathers become apparent. The females even tend to have pointy hackles so that isn't the best indicator of sex with them. I have BBS Ameraucanas and a couple of Easter Eggers as well.

It's easier to tell on straight combed breeds. By 8-10 weeks the ee combs will be reddish-pink/wide or yellow/narrow, male and female. Before that good luck!
