Sexing eggs!

I have to reevaluate my hatch. on day 7 I had all my clears pulled and six eggs ready to go, BUT some of my eggs were fridge eggs, and just the other day I thought, "these fridge eggs are doing just fine. Till I candled, again and sure enough the fridge pooped out on about day 10. The 3 eggs I got fresh are doing great. 2 greens and a spotted one. Most of the time, I don't have troubles with fridge eggs, but if you use them you have to expect something can happen. They do hatch sometimes...\

Commenting to subscribe. I will be setting my roundest eggs from each individual hen in the spring. I can tell each of my girls' eggs apart so will set roundest from each & eat the pointies. Mine will be hatched by broody so no egg to chick identification will be available. But since I'm setting only roundest I'll just calculate and consider anything more than 50% pullets a personal success. I document meticulously and will take photos of eggs as well. Some of my girls tend to lay one or the other shape, but occasionally the opposite. I will be interested to note which hens lay mostly pullets if this proves to hold true for my flock. Definitely be keeping her daughters

I had to leave for out of town on an emergency. I could not keep house warm. I think I lost my eggs due the 30th. nine eggs due the 16th look like they are still going, and I picked up some eggs from out of town by 3 hrs. due the 20th.

A www man, but you still have plenty due and it gives you a reason to do another hatch. Still trying to find a reason to incubate another hatch and I can't find one....

There are always reasons to hatch more eggs! I can't think of any at the moment though...

Since he is by himself I gave him a troll doll and a snow man for a friend.

Yay!!! Give the eggs some more time. You might get more!!!

Thanks but no, I have had many hatches and know. The cold didn't hurt my other eggs due on the 16th though...
they still look strong.

Give him a mirror!!!! That way at least he thinks there is another like him!!
