That's 75%! Can't complain about that!All 4 black sexlinks have finished hatching. 3 girls, 1 boy.
I was hearing mine peck at the shells for at least 24 hours before the first pip happened. They drove me crazy the last few days. Every time I checked the humidity (about a hundred times a day), and I heard pecking, I was all 'OOH! Did one pip?' Nope. The worst part of hatching eggs?!! The day 20. I constantly look to see rocking and listen for chirping. I HATE THIS!
They are just like kids! They have no idea how much we love them and want to wring their necks at the same time.
The day I was going into lock down I was moving them into my bedroom (cuz I'm nuts and will lay in bed all night and jump up every time one starts to hatch no matter what time it is -yes I'm a weird!). Anyway I put them in egg cartons to carry them upstairs. I had 2 dozen and just as I got to the top stair I tripped and started going down. All I could think was my eggs were going to be smashed and all my chicks killed. I held those cartons high and let my body take the full impact. Saved every egg at the expense of my knees and elbows. They'll never have any idea!!!
Looks to me like whoever bred these chicks, wasn't careful about selecting for autosexing.Soooo, it has been 18 days since my confusing clutch has hatched and it looks like I may have a few pullets! At least I hope so!! There are some definitely larger, pinkening combs, and there are still a few (just a few) who's combs are staying small with no pinkening yet. My fingers AND toes are permanently crossed!!![]()
I tell ya, trying to get a decent picture of all of them is hilarious!!
Tell me what you think....
