Hi there, I’ve seen many posts on this and am still unsure. Mine are 3 weeks old and all look different from each other. I had a horrible hatch with a really sad loss. I fear the remaining three are all cockerels. Please excuse my poopy floors I was cleaning out their brooder.

Where did you get the hatching eggs from? If they are from a high quality source than I fear that your chicks are looking from colouration like they are male. Neck feathers, chest feathers, and leg feathers on females should come in cream or salmon coloured (while males have black). HOWEVER, that being said, hatchery quality birds are much harder to tell. I've seen some pullets with unexpected amounts of black feathering on them. I would keep them a little longer to see - it should become obvious over the next few weeks.

I had a horrible hatch also only one hatched with curled toes will not eat I’ve been feeding b complex and watery gruel through syringe for days today it’s so weak I don’t expect it to live the day

I bought mine online eBay I’m so sad but at least I know I did all in my power

Wow! I had the exact same experience! The curled toes were a nightmare and completely resisted treatment. Who was the seller? I wonder if we bought from the same source? I ordered more eggs from a new source last week.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience too. Best of luck to you with the curled toes.

Shipped eggs are a gamble for sure, I had a different seller. They were very fast and packed well. I think my issue was incubator related rather than the source. I’m sorry the little one didn’t make it. Best of luck with your next hatch.
