Is it really that easy to sex the jumbo browns they are only about 3 weeks old and with the normal colored ones I feel pretty shure I have 2 roos and a hen.
Im so hopeing that I have 2 hens and a roo with my white ones or all hens
I just cant belave its so easy to sex them so young O.O
Am I just not doing it right or is it really that easy. Is this a boy like I think it is.?
And I just had to share cuase this poor little button is too cute. Here is the little one about 12 hours old. It was the only one that hatched. Looks like only one other was fully formed but didnt even pip then there were a few devleped a little more then half way and a couple blood rings but that was it out of the 47 eggs I set. I feel bad for the little one being all alone.

Its still young but guessing by the spots on the chest I am voting hen as well, the males I have pretty much have little or no spots on their chest from 2 weeks or as soon as the "fuzz" is all clear on their chests. Keep us updated

I went out and grabbed up some of my 3 week old Jumbo Browns to take some pics to help you out. I hope this helps, if you need more pictures let me know

Here is a male, as you can see he has a lack of spots on his chest and more gold coloring on the chest

And here is a female, you notice the spots on the chest and the more cream color vs gold. This is a 3 week old hen

I got a jumbo brown male that has lots of spots, and lots of rust coloring. Did the vent thing, and saw some foam, but not a lot. Will have to check it out again. Will also take a picture later and see what you all think. It is six weeks old now.

If you have your birds together in a cage and you sexed one and got a little foam it could have been that it was a hen that was just bred. If they are normal jumbos or brown wildtype then the breast of the male is gold and the hen has spots. I have about 15 baby jumbos and 10 adult breeder jumbos and have had quite a few that I have eaten, not a single male had a spotted chest, they were usually gold breasted by 3 weeks, I think the one you sexed probably had just been bred

Sorry to hijack this thread, but heres my male quail that is spotted. Three different views of the same bird. Notice the spots on its chest, but also significant rusting. I did the vent check again, and there was a lot of foam already there before I squeezed. On squeezing, there was only a little bit coming out. Not sure still.
