Help! I can’t tell if I have a roo or a hen. My silkie hen hatched this beautiful baby on thanksgiving day. So now here we are four months later, and I don’t know what I have. Makes noises of a hen and seems very skiddish and low on pecking order. Sticks close with its mama. They sleep and go everywhere together.

Post a photo of the front of her hair. She does sound like a hen and looks like one to. Silkies are the hardest breed to sex so just know she may end up being a he. You don’t know what gender she will be 100% until she crows or lays.

Not much comb or wattles so in that aspect I’d say pullet.
The only thing I am not sure about is her head feathers, but even then some of my silkie hens have very wild head feathers.
My final answer is pullet. But silkies are extremely hard to sex. You won’t know completely until she lays or crows (as a mentioned before). With silkies it’s a guess not a guarantee.
