I had quite a few replacement ducks, for those who didn't survive being shipped. And I was supposed to have 2 female replacement Cayugas, but one of them sadly passed. And so now I only have one Cayuga left in my duck herd. I can't sex it by color since both the female and the male have a similar appearance. I noticed that he sounds like my male Saxony drake. He makes sort of raspy noise, instead of the loud quacks of my hens. Could the Cayuga be a drake? Can you sex ducks by their voice?

Males sound like a bad smoker, females quack!

My male to female duck ratio. I am thinking 3 drakes and 16 hens. I dont want the females to stressed out, since I want them to produce lots of eggs. So do you think that 3 to 16 is the perfect ratio or do you think I should get rid of one of my drakes?

If they seem to get along well I wouldn't see any need to get rid of anymore.
