So just started hatching chicks. The rooster is a black silkie (he has red leakage if that is anything worth to note)and the moms are buff Orpington, Wyandotte, australorp, Easter egger or barred rocks.

I’d been told many times the chicks would be sex linked by skin color

(apparently they’re not accept for the barred rocks, the male rock mixes will have a white spot on the head).

2 out of seven of the chicks have light skinned cloacas. However, they also have a white spot of their head indicating they are male barred rocks.

So my question, are light skin cloacas associated with barred rocks exclusively or males(of any breed)?

Pic 3: white spot on barred rock
Pic 4 and 5: the roo

Also: half the chicks have one toe that is discolored (light instead of black). Is that an indicator of sex?
