Sexing Silkies????

Silkies are not as agile as other chickens, and can't fly like Kentuckysilkies explained. Mine are almost 6 months old and will still not roost on the roosts, they prefer sleeping on the bottom of the coop. Mine have been a a large pen and free range during the day when we can watch them and are like this, so I think in that respect your silkies are typical. Mine are clumsy, sometimes running into things because they can't see, but very sweet, docile birds. I have heard that silkies start laying a little later than other chickens, but I am not sure because this is my first bunch. That said, we are at 6 months and no eggs yet. Good luck with yours!!
