So I bought 3 little pullets from our feed store, but they do not put them out in bins like some stores. They keep them in secured cages away from the public area of the store, and they are sorted as they came in from the hatchery. Also, the only straight run chicks are the Cornish X, all the others are labeled as pullets. So what is the chance that we could still end up with a roo after all that? How accurate are the hatcheries when they ship? Thanks!

The hatchery I ordered from; says about a 90% to max 95% success rate in sexting them...

now I dont know if thats THEIR success rate or an across the board general..

I would agree with that kind of average, though don't depend on it. Think of it like this:
if i were to flip a coin 100 times, I would not expect exactly 50 heads or 50 tails. Improbably as it is, I could even get 100 of either. It really depends

My aunt got me 6 barred rock chicks last spring, one died at 1 week so that left 5 chicks... and 4/5 were pullets, leaving on as a cockeral. So thats my experience.
