Sexing White Leghorns

Hello! I have a batch of white leghorn eggs hatching this week. Wondering if anyone has any tips on sexing white leghorn chicks? Thanks!

Females have the fast feathering-gene in this breed.

Like Mikarod said... Pullets feather out fast and by 4 weeks you can definitely tell who are the roos! The combs on them grow really fast as well!

If your chicks are from male breeders with slow feathering and female breeders of fast feathering, you can do feather sexing. Else, wait two weeks and the boys will have red combs! Some start to show as early as 4-5 days!

Yeah, the combs on Leghorns are INSANE. You'll be able to tell quite quickly.

I looks like a pullet to me. Only because our white leghorn roosters seemed to grow waddles and combs longer and faster. Here's a longhorn gen in front and roo in back. The hen still has a red comb larger than other breeds.
