Yes, I was talking about sex-links from crossing other colored marans on cuckoo hens. I'm not that interested in black chickens, but I do like blue chickens and blue barred for some reason fascinates me. So I was trying to figure out if there would be a simple way to get blue sex links or if I would have to cross several generations in order to get all blue (and blue barred) chicks. But the golden cuckoo are very interesting. I was going to ask if they bred true or if the sexability was only the F1's.

You could use Solid Splash, Splash Wheaten, or Splash Copper roos on Cuckoo hens to make Blue Sexlink hens and Blue Barred roos.

And yes, the trait in the Golden Cuckoo Marans should breed true as long as the roos are homozygous. But it my not be 100% accurate and may take some eye training. Even pure solid barred breeds like Barred Rocks, Dominiques, and Cuckoo Marans work like that most of the time.

Question for the Sex-Linked experts............I bought some Delaware chicks to eventually cross with my NH Roo to make Red Sexlinks. It turns out that the breeder may not have separated the hens from the main flock long enough and I may have Delaware/Light Brahma crosses (one has feathered legs, the other 10 do not, three roos have normal combs and can't tell yet if the other males/females have rose combs or normal, they are currently 5 weeks old). Has anyone had this cross and will they still make the sexlinked offspring? They are sure chunky little chicks and little hellions, tearing up their brooder!! I know they probably won't be as good egglayers as the Brahmas are not as good as the Delawares but the roos should be a good table bird I would think. Any info would be appreciated.
