Hi,

Genetics question from a newbie: Would this combo make barred sexlink babies??
My roo is a cross between a pure Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas and a pure Bearded Buff Lace Polish. My hens are Golden Cuckoo Marans. So, would only the males be barred?? or is cuckoo not a sexlinked bar trait?? Or does my rooster have to be a pure something instead of a cross breed??

He isn't barred....but he has a tiny bit of lacing.

Cool, how will tell which chicks are males and females?

The hens should be buff colored and the males would should probably white/really light yellow.

Yes the Rocky the roo is red, buff and white...He is the guy in my avatar. I am setting some shipped eggs next week and going to add Rocky/GCM eggs to fill any empty spots. The Genetics stuff is confusing but really interesting.

Thank you for responding. I think I understand, but going to see if I can find a book for reference. Any suggestions as to a good (easy to follow) beginning chicken breeding book??
