This morning our 2 month old duckling (of questionable sex and breed) was swimming in its pool and our 9 month old female runner came over and started bobbing her head up and down while making some low quacks.

The younger duck started yanking at her neck with its beak pulling it pretty violently. The older duck just let him do it....

was this foreplay or trying to establish pecking order? Our duckling is only 2 months old.

I'm thinking foreplay, them boys know a girl when they see one especially if she is giving the come on even when the boy is only 2 months old.

omg. so... im guessing our baby is a boy?
I have seen my girls acting out sexually too, so Until you see the green head or tail feather curl, it's still up in the air. Or The Quack, Quack loudly girl- raspy quack and low boy

The quack was a dead giveaway for my drake. He didn't find his voice until almost three months old while the girls had been quacking away since ducklings.
