Shade Cloth vs Poly Tarp

Nice job on your tractor. Won't bother answering you original questions since its been pretty well covered. I would, however, like to see pictures of your feeding watering arrangement.

Tell them "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" for me. Do they get cake?

HAHA, They just got a whole new coop, so I figured why bake when I still have so much building to do! I'll sing Happy Birthday to them for you. Thanks!!

I would go with the shade cloth. I put tarp over mine and the rain got so heavy on top that it broke my 2x2s that I had framed the top with. I have since built a tin covered area for shade and will use the shade cloth on some of the other area. Gloria Jean

Pros and Cons to it all. My run is covered half with shadecloth and half with polytarps that are silver to reflect heat. The shadecloth breathes and is cool (critical over garden areas here as well) but not enough shade in the heat of the day for mine here. They choose to stay in the areas under the tarps. But the roof of the run is high enough that any heat formed is not trapped and never reaches down where the girls are. Of course, in this heat (106), I run misters are well.

And
the waterer is a Little Giant waterer that came pre-plumbed.... http://www.chickenmobilestagecoach.com/id66.html
