Meadowsong gave Blackpine a final lick. "Don't worry. We'll find a way through this."
 
Meadowsong dragged her paws as she followed Cloudfall. When would she be able to see Blackpine again? Now the whole clan would know about her and Blackpine, and they would never trust her again.

Right when she had finally found a clan to be her family. She had blown it all. She hung her head, and her orange eyes held much sorrow.

As Cloudfall watched Meadowsong, obviously feeling horrible, she couldn't help feeling a pang of sympathy. If she loved him, did boundaries really matter in the end? But there were rules, she reminded herself fiercely. And as deputy it was her job to enforce them.
"Do you want to stop and rest?" Cloudfall asked her softly, in a voice a queen might use to soothe a kit. "That wound looks nasty."
