I'm looking to add a shady vine to the sunny part of my chicken run. I would hate to plant something that would harm my girls. Suggestions??

My particular one does not grow fruit, it just has really pretty purple flowers. I didn't realize before I bought it that it was the same plant that actually grows the fruit! I thought that Passionflower vine was a different thing! If I had realized I would have sought out a variety that fruits. But it is growing gangbusters which I was not expecting at all. It grew and stayed green throughout the winter here in the Puget Sound area.

The chickens don't seem too much interested in eating it mainly because its stalky down towards the bottom and they would have to jump up higher to get the leaves, but they do dig the heck out of the root area which is why I have it closed off to them now.

Clematis can be like that too, stalky and woody on the bottom so there is nothing down low for the chickens to eat.
