i have a mallard duckling that hatched last night around 12 hours ago. It was hatched with the yolk not fully absorbed and it was also ruptured with a small amount of tissue outside of the umbilical area. i tied this off and left the duckling in the incubator and this morning the yolk sac and tissue had dried up and i removed it. Now the duckling wont stop shaking violently, it looks like its feet are vibrating! It also cannot walk properly and keeps fallinf onto its back :/ apart from that its very vocal and very lively, what could be wrong? is it in pain and will it get better? :(

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

I'm sorry to hear about your duckling!

I also am sorry to say I know nothing about ducks so I can't give any advice. I would ask in one of these two areas of BYC.

Best of luck to you and your duckling!

I just answered on your other thread, I wonder if he has low blood sugar (or it that even happens to poultry) because he didn't fully absorb the egg sac which would have
provided him with nutrition. I know one of the symptoms is shaking/shivering, loss of motor control

Thanks for your help ve boiled an egg and tried to get him to eat the yolk but he hasnt had much
