I had a white leghorn I named "Ladies Man" cause when it came hatching time I only had one full RIR chick. The rest were all leghorn and leghorn/RIR mixes (came out of brown eggs). The RIR roo must of been trying to show off to much.

I can't choose, I picked out all my chicken's names so carfully. So, I will give you all of them. Even the ones that aren't with us anymore

Our son named the Wyandotte Attila the Hen, since she's the coop bully. Then we have:

Pippen, the sweet little Red Star,
Black Adder, the Australorp,
Max the EE, and
Brunhilda, the Barred Rock. (For those of you who remember Bugs Bunny's opera episode... think Elmer Fudd singing "Oh Brunhilda, you're so wovewy!")

Well I am kinda weird about naming things even my own children. I have to name things in groups or by association of each other. Here is what I mean.

We have two coops. One is for the EE's and the others are the Welsumers

In the EE/ Ameraucana coop everyone has a name that starts with L.

Larry the Roo
LuLu ~ one of the fat red blue laced twin hens (has blue beard)
LaLa ~ the other fat red blue laced twin hen (has the light red beard)
Lola ~ the non bearded EE, she is like the Jessica Rabbit of the coop
Lucy ~ is the carefree, yet ditsy blond of the group

Then there is the wellies. Everyone in this coop has names that start with....yep, you guess it...the letter J.

Jack ~ the roo
Joy ~ the very old hen, but I can't get rid of her
Jewel ~ not as old as Joy but no doubt still a gem of a gal
Josey ~ is the outlaw hen (named after outlaw Josey Wales)
Jill ~ the youngest but got her name because Jack can't fetch water without a Jill.

Next coop I get are all getting biblical names or I may name them 4 of the nine fruits of the spirit like:

Love
Hope
Faith
Peace
and then name the roo Abraham. I wish I thought of this earlier, oh well that just means I need to get another coop built to accommodate another flock. Which shall I choose? Barred Rocks, Buff Orps, or Black Austras?

I pull names from the family tree, skipping over the Saint names, like Mary, Theresa, etc, and go for the 19th-century fashionable Power Names....Florence, Mildred, Bertha, Ethel, etc.

It's about time for these names to be trendy again!

Im with you, mine are all names that came from a earlier time, like Millie, Emma,Adaleid and Whinney and the list goes on! LOL Stormy

We had an Ameraucana who got us onto the front page of our local newspaper because she laid an egg-within-an-egg. They liked her name so much they put it in the headline, which read:

"Flappy McGee lays monster egg"

(she was very flighty, hence the name)

I completely forgot about that. I just ended up with a rooster and I am trying to think of a name, I think that might be it
