Most feed stores that carry a lot of horse supplies carry grass hay, but you have to purchase an entire bale. Pet stores sell Timothy hay in small bags for rabbits and other small animals. It's very soft and nice for nest making.

Okay so timothy hay at pet store or online and its good and save for quail got it im just sitting here making sure temp gets back up to 99.5 it got down to 98.6 for a lil cuz mornings are a bit cold since its oct. Ty all for info and i hope more pics get posted by more users \o.o/

Be sure to ask your feed store to confirm they only sell bales. Mine will also sell individual flakes from a square bale. They even put it in large plastic bags from other bulk feed they've sold so it doesn't make a mess.

Oh wow, that's great you can get single flakes! I wonder if my feed store does this...I'm going to ask next time I go!

I use pine shaving. Should i use the grass instead..?

Mine are on paper bedding but they get some grass hay added into one corner as an extra. You could always try a handful if you want to encourage nest building?
