I am going to add 4 new chicks to my laying flock and am considering ordering 10 broilers as well. Is there any reason why I can't keep the layers and meat chicks together in the same brooder initially? At what point would I need to separate them?

I would seperate them like Mahonri said... I think they grow much quicker than the layers will. Good Luck!

I remeber reading a month or so a post where someone's meat birds had smothered and killed one of their layers - maybe once the size difference starts getting noticeable they should be separated.
