Last month I put in an order of chicks that I was going to split with my brother because neither of us thought we wanted 25 chicks. After searching the many hatcheries we found a lot of the sold out for a long time. The one that had the chickens we wanted and the soonest ship date ended up being esteshatchery.com.

We placed our order 21 for my brother and 10 for myself. Only a week latter we found we wanted some silkies. Esteshatchery only sells assorted breeds of battems, but we put in a request to have 2 silkies added to our order. They did it.

The ship date arrived and the hatchery called and confirmed that they were shipping. Two days latter our babies arrived. We were really sad to see that 4 had past away in shipping, especially that one was a silkie. We then divided up the chicks, which was easy that my brother ordered all white leghorns and we had quite a variety of types. Estes had shipped extras! My brother ended up taking home 24 chicks out of his 21 he ordered, then we counted ours and ended up with 17 out of 12 that we ordered! That means Estes had thrown in 12 extras total. We are thrilled about our larger family and not as sad about our loss of 4. All chicks that arrived are all happy and heathly except a pasty butt or two with our cochin babies. We just are hoping most the extras our pullets but we will see...

That's awesome! Enjoy your new babies!!!
