Those things are cool. I think i remember watching a discovery show about them. Wanna say the male does all the chick rearing.

Yes, I believe the male incubates and raises the young. They are very cool and also dangerous. People complain about aggressive roosters... can you imagine a 6' tall 150 lb "rooster" coming after you?:lau

Turkey Toms will brood eggs or try to. I had one that tried to hatch a nest of golf balls.

When a hen had 3 poults he basically stole them.
Even when the poults were teens he would roost next to them and cover them with his wings.

As far a psycho turkey hens. They will attack anything and anyone that gets close to them. I had one I couldn’t get within 50 ft of her or her babies. ( she had chicks not poults) and she would come on a dead run for me. The dogs gave her wide berth too.

I had one turkey hen take on an eagle. She didn’t kill it but she saved her poults. It cost her her life though, she was ripped from chest to belly. The breast wasn’t much more than scratched but the skin and feathers were flopping loose. She lived about a week after the attack.

A mad psycho turkey hen is not a tiny game hen. :old

I assume most of you have seen this but this is a non-psycho turkey hen that hates this rooster. The rooster is not a fan of the turkey hen either. The turkey hen started this long before this video. She would roost next to this rooster, no matter were he roosts. Then she would reach over and out his tail feathers.

I know I show it a lot, but it’s just so funny. This is a couple years ago, both are still alive and both still torment each other.

I always laugh about all the gobbles and carrying on in the background it sounds like they're all laughing and egging them on. 🤣

I’ve posted this pic quite a few times too.
I’m not sure I agree with tiny game hen. Lol I’ve had hens cause all kinds of problems unfortunately. Roosters are a totally different story. I have a peacock that almost found out the hard way not to screw with a full grown gamecock.

I have never had a rooster act like that.

I enjoy my ducks as pets mostly, but I still consider them a livestock animal. I like to be near them but I don't have to have them in my lap.
I have dogs and cats for snuggling.
Most of mine don’t really like being held or pet, which is fine by me and I don’t force them, but I do have one that literally loves it and will jump up in my lap by herself 😂 twice she’s sat there for over half an hour :lau most of mine aren’t that friendly though haha I mean, they’ll come running over and say hi to me and follow me and everything but run away if you try to grab them 😂

What do you mean? Take care of chicks? I had a different breeding pen this past year and took the hen out when the chicks were only a few days old just to see what the rooster would do. He raised them the same as the hen would have.

Yep, taking care of chicks like that one is.
